Therapy is a collaborative process that involves a therapist working together with a client to provide support, insights, and tools aimed at overcoming psychological and emotional challenges, improving mental wellbeing, and achieving personal growth and development.
The benefits of therapy are diverse and depend on the specific issues or goals of the client. Some common ways therapy can be beneficial include improving mental health by assisting individuals in managing conditions like depression, anxiety, trauma, and stress. Therapy also enhances self-awareness, helping clients gain a deeper understanding of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, leading to positive changes in attitudes and actions.
The duration of therapy can vary widely depending on the individual and their specific needs, but it often ranges from six to twelve sessions. The length of therapy is influenced by factors such as the complexity of the issues being addressed and the client's commitment to the process.
In our initial meeting, we'll have a chance to become acquainted and discuss what's happening in your life right now. If we both determine that therapy could benefit you, we'll collaborate on defining objectives and subsequently hold regular sessions to make progress towards those objectives. Each therapy session will span 50 minutes.
Absolutely, maintaining confidentiality is extremely crucial, and any discussions we engage in will be kept confidential within this space. The only exceptions would be if I have any concerns about your wellbeing or the wellbeing of someone else, in which case, it would be my responsibility to exercise a duty of care and seek additional guidance. Also. regular supervision is an ethical responsibility and professional requirement, as it protects you, the client, whilst allowing a safe space for your therapist to explore confidentially the work we do together.
